Britney Spears is calling in 'Amy" for her next single....and not Amy Winehouse (that would be interesting though).
Spears has selected "If U Seek Amy" as the follow up to her second single "Circus" which failed to achieve the success of "Womanizer".
Since Spears' album hit stores in December it has failed to reach the success of previous albums like "Britney" (5 million copies sold, which also moved near 779,000 copies its first week) on the charts. Selling less than 1.5 million copies in the U.S. since it's debut, "Circus" has in effect been beat out by competing divas like Beyonce (near 1.6 million) or even 2008s breakout star Taylor Swift (2+ million) who has moved nearly twice the amount of Spears' "Circus".
Hopefully "If U Seek Amy" will give Britney the boost she needs.
Spears' highly anticipated tour, featuring the Pussycat Dolls, kicks off later this winter.
Britney Spears' "Circus" has reportedly sold near 1.2 million copies in the U.S. since December, earning Platinum certification.
"Circus" has peaked at no.4 on the UK Albums chart.
"Circus," the single holds on the Billboard 200 at no.6 after 5 weeks on the chart.

Umm...as Justin has already pointed out, there's nothing remotely accurate in this article at all. "Circus", the single, is still on the rise on the charts for radioplay, after a strong debut with sales in the past weeks. While "Circus", the album, may not have sold as many copies as Taylor Swift's "Fearless," but that album has not only been out twice as long as Spears', but it has also been the biggest album released in the 4th quarter of 2008. Unlike "Blackout," Britney's latest album has stayed in the Top 10 since its release, whereas "Blackout" was only in the top 10 for 2 weeks...it's time to check your sources before publishing a completely false story.
wow, this article is completley bogus.
Circus, the single, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It slipped in the charts because of Britney promoting Womanizer.
It continues to be the number most requested song @ Open House Party, and is still selling thousands of downloads.
Circus, the album, has gone platinum in 2 weeks, and has sold more copies than last years Blackout. It has been critically praised, and still sits pretty in the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot 200.
so quite frankly, i find your article completley bogus. Britney is still on the rise, and I'm sorry to say that Britney doesn't need the so called boost you're assuming she needs.
