Mariah 'Re Records' Hero for Ballads (Video), Nabs Million Dollar New Years Payout

Mariah Carey has upped the ante for her upcoming release "The Ballads" by re-recording the fan-favorite "Hero".

Surprising many, some enthused...others not, Mariah Carey puts a 2009 spin on "Hero" (watch below) in a recently released video.

"The Ballads," Carey's first collection of classics like "Always Be My Baby," "Vision of Love" and "One Sweet Day" is slated to hit stores Jan. 20 through SONY.

In related news, Mariah Carey snagged a nice payout over New Years.

The "Stay In Love" singer picked up $1 million after agreeing to peform four songs at the Nikki Beach Club on the Caribbean Island of St. Barts !

Carey spent the remainder of New Year's Eve partying up with Beyonce, Jay-Z and Timbaland who were also visiting the island for New Years.

Mariah Carey is a wonderful singer. I love this song it's my fsvorite. She sings this song really good.

Sounds good, not a bad video that was a very classic R&B song from back in the day. Thats the MC we know and love. Can't wait 4 cassics 2 come out.

Sounds good. Not as good as the original from 93 but hey, but MC aint 23 she is 38. So this version shows her 38yr old voice....I miss classic MC.
