Who says youngsters are all about partying ?
Chris Brown has clearly taken notes from his elders and is focused on getting his money right before two stepping down to the club.
In 2008 Chris Brown raked up a serious amount of portfolio pieces including a designer hat deal; a three picture deal with Screen Gems; and the launch of his own label -- but that just scratches the surface.
In addition to penning songs for Rihanna, The Pussycat Dolls and The Jonas Brothers, Brown partnered up with Zazzle over the summer to create an online store. The deal, which offers fans nearly 350 styles of apparel, mugs, mouse pads, buttons, key chains and other items, became a stepping stone for Brown’s next conquest.
In July, the “Take You Down” singer inked a deal for his very own reality/dance competition series. Billed as a series centering around Hip-Hop and street dance culture, Brown’s as-yet-untitled show is slated to hit television in 2009.
Following the reality show deal, which places him in line with Janet Jackson and 50 Cent, two other artists who signed similar deals this year, Brown inked a deal for a signature line of caps.
Joining film director, Spike Lee, who also has a line of caps, Brown launched six custom designed hats for New Era Cap, who allows the singer to receive a royalty for every hat sold instead of the usual upfront fee other line-owners receive.
Sliding from head to toe, Chris Brown gave a lot of us something to talk about in September when his line of underwear was revealed. Titled ‘Big Headed,’ Brown’s boxers were reportedly designed to stay put, unlike some other undergarments that have a habit of rising up at the most inopportune time. In fact, a statement from ‘Big Headed’ reads: “[Big Headed] allows you to let loose and enjoy yourself..literally !”
As if the aforementioned moves weren’t enough, Chris Brown officially launched CBE, his own record label this year and became both Billboard and the American Music Awards’ Artist of the Year (2008).
Now that’s an R&B Phenom.
