R&B/pop singer Christina Milian is speaking up in Rap Up magazine's winter 08/09 issue -- this time the "Us Against The World" singer is setting the record straight.
Calling the publicized drop from Def Jam the most "embarrassing" point in her life, Christina Milian gets candid with Rap-Up. At one point the singer admits "I would be in my room a lot of the time crying by myself."
Milian wasn't the only one dropped during a period she says was full of budget cuts, R&B singer Tearri Mari also felt the brunt of the ax.
"It was a budget cut, I believe," says Milian.
"Probably got rid of projects like mine to spend the money on Rihanna."
Since 2005 Rihanna has been Def Jam's leading pop sensation, releasing several chart-topping singles including "Take A Bow" and "Umbrella," while Milian has remained nearly silent since being dropped.
Things are looking up for the former "Dip It Low" singer. She is now signed to Myspace Records and has a new single entitled "Us Against The World".
Milian says "I'm not going to let these people hold me down. It's time."

Well with some artist it thats time to make a good ablum. And others just find a writer or sing a song and get it out there. But I thing you have to choose the right label next time. I will Admit that i have a rihanna cd but i just got mad when she put out that reloaded crack(an i don't buy it). I think a true artist and record label know a good song when they see one. And in my sayin none of those songs she did from that label where good(talkin about milian)But this time she better bring IT!!! Better than Rihanna SHIT!
I AM AN ASPIRING SINGER. I LIVE IN JAMAICA AND SOMETIMES READING, HEARING THESE DISASTROUS MUSIC BUSINESS TSUNAMI'S GETS ME SCARED AT TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS ABOUT POPULAR NAMES IN THE INDUSTRY. IN A CASE LIKE CHRISTINA'S, SHE HAVE COME CLEAN FROM THE DOWNTURN OF THINGS. NOT WHEN ITS ABOUT TIME TO RELEASE A NEW PROJECT. I'VE ALWAYS LIKED HER BUT AT THE SAME TIME SHE NEEDS TO BE MORE CONSISTENT WITH HER MUSIC. GIVING THE PUBLIC ONE HOT SONG AND A VIDEO ISN'T GOING TO WORK. IN MY OPINION, DEF JAM COMPARED RIHANNA AND CHRISTINA'S WORK IN TERMS SELLING RECORDS AND BEING PROACTIVE WITH. THIS IS WHERE THE DECISION MIGHT HAVE COME INTO PLAY TO TERMINATE THEIR BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SHOW THESE PEOPLE WHAT YOU ARE MADE OF!!
ONE LOVE!!
Bottom line Ms. Millian, you made some poor song choices.Your CD are mediocre at best. And usually the best song is the first single. Def Jam gave you 3 chances (releases) to become a star. Its time to give another chick a chance. Stop hating...you got another Record deal, now use it wisely. I like "Us against the world", now just make sure there is other heat on that CD.
I agree with Sam's comments below! It would be nice if record labels could finally learn how to "multi-task" projects, but this happens alot in the industry. Every executive dosen't have the rare savy of Clive Davis!!
I love both Rihanna and Christina Milian but i did feel like it was really messed up for them to drop her to spend more money on Rihanna. I absolutly am a big Rihanna &Christina mIlian fan and i believe that there was enough room for the both of them. But then again this is a perfect example of how the industry is
THATS THE POLTICS OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS.KEY WORD BUSINESS.SO GET SOME GREAT MATERIAL AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD.YOU DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE.KEEP GOD IN YOUR LIFE AND THE REST IS ELEMENTARY.GOOD LUCK TO YOU MS MILAN.WE CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR IT.RONESTONE
I love them both they sound like great artists.
So what? this b**** trying to get buzz cause she dropping a new album. She didn't say s*** on hot 97 last year, and not saying nothing when they gave her "SOS" 1st and she turn it down and went all hood chick or her 1st two album not selling before Ri was even signed.Face it, the cheep Beyonce look didn't work for you, no one want to buy your music(I did and will never buy your crap again),so stop trying to make a DC thing out of it, y'all was on the same label, not in a group and Rihanna can sell music.
I agree with Sam's philosophy! Add Luda's name to that growing list because his CD is falling quickly down the charts! If they can't promote Luda who appeals to the mainstream by appearing in Oscar-nominated movies, then you, the label , are just pitiful!!!
if u aint, neyo, riri, or kanye......def jam playz u madd to the left
Def Jam needs to take some industry cues from Clive Davis on how to have simutamous CDs in heavy rotation within the market by more than one R&B diva! Jhud, Jazmine Sullivan and Alicia Keys continue to have chart success at the same time and they're on the same label! Christina now joins the growing list of disgruntled Def jam artists like Foxy, LL Cool J, Terri, DMX, Music, etc....! Even vets like LL and Janet, who was on the parent side of the label via Island, have publicly expressed their grevices! It's unfortunate labels still can't get it right in times of piracy and when people in general aren't doing a lot of music buying! It makes you wonder if they have been operating just like the "Auto industry!"
