BET To 'Honor' Mary J Blige, Tyler Perry At 2009 BET Honors

BET is slated to pay homage to Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry, and Earvin "Magic" Johnson at its 2nd Annual BET Honors event next month.
Hosted by Gabrielle Union, 'The BET Honors' program recognizes excellence in achievement and celebrates inspiration.
In addition to Blige, Perry and Johnson, dancer and choreographer Judith Jamison; entreprenuer extraordinaire B. Smith; and the Honorable Congressman James E. Clyburn will be honored at the ceremony.
The 2nd Annual 'BET Honors' will take place at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, January 17 and premiere on BET during Black History Month on Monday, Feb. 9 at 9pm ET.
"We are thrilled to kick off this historic inauguration weekend with the return of THE BET HONORS, a truly inspirational event that pays tribute to extraordinary individuals in our community," said Debra L. Lee, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, BET Networks.

I absolutely love watching the BET Award shows each year. I thought that each and every awardee at the 2009 show was exceptional. I do however have to say that I found the standing ovation for Whitney Houston unwarrented. This is a woman who has talent beyond most peoples imagination and yes we all deserve to be forgiven for our mistakes as she does but when I see her and hear her voice it reminds me of how abnoxious and ungrateful she was for all that she was given. Her comeback is a positive her family, her fans and for her but to ignore the fact of her pure ignorance is disheartening. I'm reminded of her interview with Diane Sawyer and her pathetic reality show.
Congrats Mary J. And Tyler Perry May God continue to bless you both that you will blesssed others that are unfortunate.
I am Mary's biggest fan, her music has saved "my life" I know it sound cliche bu really it did. I WILL DEFINATELY BE HABING A PARTY IN HONOR OF THE SHOW

Go MJB!...But how come u aint promoting the "GP" cd? "Work That' is such a postive inspirational song & it should have had a music video! That crappy video for 'Stay Down' looks like leftovers from NeYo's 'So Sick' music video. I was hearing 'hurt Again' on the radio back in Feb/MAr but ti too wasnt promoted. WTF is happening?
