Oh please! Of course Beyonce if very talented, but she is not a living legend. You have to pay your dues to be a legend. Let's just say she's a diva. Miss Tina is a diva and a living legend. She and Ike were trailblazers. Singers like Tina, Aretha, Patti, Dionne, and Gladys paved the way for the young black singing artists of today. They had to put up with a lot of crap in the old days. I first saw the Ike & Tina Revue in Milwaukee in 1968. Ike and his Kings of Rythm band and Tina and the Ikettes were a sight to behold. Ms. Turner is a real legend. I would not say that she is better than Tina but she has potential to be greater than Tina in the future...And Beyonce has written plenty of songs with substance...Trust me...And I am not talking about the songs on the radio...And Beyonce does not take writing credit...Sometime more than one person writes on a song so, when she say she co-wrote a song this means she helped contribute to the production of it...There is more than just lyrics that go into a song, there are vocal and melody arrangements, hooks, bridges, verses. the chorus...etc...She would not have won a songwriter of the year award if she was not song writing, trust...Now one thing that cannot be denied is that Beyonce has accomplished way more in the decade that she has been out compared to some of the old school artist...As for someone saying she is mediocre, I think she is anything but that...The proof is in her success....

Her Sasha Fierce side of the album shows NO GROWTH in terms of continuity; they are the same, mediocre, materialistic, antagonistic songs as were on BDay...and those she DID write with the help of her cousin and her sister. But on the flip side, I AM, those songs DO have substance, but she didn't write 'em. There's growth in the subject matter and her selecting the songs, but as a writer she has yet to mature. With that aside, Kanye's statement...I get what he was trying to say, but he should be aware people aren't going to agree at all. Beyonce is Tina-esque and provided she GROW will be the Tina of our generation. She is an amazing performer and an amazing vocalist but SHE IS NOT THERE YET. Again, Beyonce WILL BE the Tina of our generation. I'm thinking Kanye was sippin' on a little something and his words just came out all wonky. God bless him.

people and kanye forget that people like tina turner were inspirations for a reason they pathed the way for beyonce tina turner mad a way for herself as a unique singer and performer she didnt have to sell her soul to do it you can connect with tina b/c she did what she had to make a way they are both great performers but the comparison wasnt needed kanye needs to go to counseling

He crazy...Tina has experianced so much and has overcome a lot. I must admit she is very talented and all but to compare her to someone as legendary and inspiring as Tina is not a good look. Beyonce does is a bigger "Star" than Tina but she will never reach the success that Tina has had.

Comparing different singers from different eras is a rather tricky business. My take is that while Beyonce has the potential to become one of 'the greats' of her era, she does not hold a candle to Tina at her peak during the 60's and early 70's. Watch Tina dance in old footage and you'll know what I mean. More importantly, listen to Tina sing. Even to this day, she has a breadth of vocal ability and a soulfulness that Beyonce simply doesn't possess on the same level. I'm a fan of Beyonce and she has great talent, but not Tina's level of talent.

People who say Beyonce is as great as Tina Turner clearly have not listened to her records and seen her perform. Beyonce has nice vocals and is a wonderful performer but she needs YEARS in the game before she reaches that level. Comparing yourself to Tina means you must deal with LONGEVITY! But this comment aside, am I the only one worried about Kanye? Something is not right about him. Forget this comment. It is his opinion. And I respect that. But some of his antics have been a bit "off". I pray his coping well after the tragedy in his life. Keep your head up, 'Ye!

On points of markeability and just all around talent, Beyonce is as great and WILL BE greater than Tina. In Tina's hayday she was what Beyonce is now. Beyonce is a true singer, a beautiful young lady, and actually a divalicious dancer. I say Kanye was right on. She is a living legend. don't be stupid!
