Brandy Says "I Lied": Blames Fear/People For 'Marriage' Stunt

After discussing her life post "Special Delivery," the MTV special that chronicled her pregnancy with now 6-year-old daughter Sy'rai, Brandy has come forward with her reason for lying about her now much-talked-about 'marriage' to Robert Smith.
"I lied," Brandy told US Magazine following her interview with Vibe earlier this week.
"I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model."
While Brandy's confessional comes roughly six years after the deed was done the former "Cinderella" star has a point.
During those years, Brandy was the quintessential black Hollywood role model for young girls, teenagers and even adults. She had starred in Rogers and Hammerstein's 'Cinderella' on ABC and she had been on the hit UPN show 'Moesha' for a number of years following runs on family shows like 'Thea'. In many eyes Brandy's unmarried status would have been controversial to say the least.
Of course today, role models or child stars gone bad are taking nude photos and using them for publicity stunts... so an unmarried mom seems to be less controversial.
Ending the interview, Brandy says "Our relationship was very real, we just weren't legally married."

Brandy is marvelous! It wouldn't matter if she was upfront with it or waited'til now. People are waiting to bring you down. She's correct to feel the way she did. Society (meaning all the negative people on here) makes you scared to be human and make bad choices. She's being honest now which is all that anyone can ask. Most people on this site don't have their life choices blasted to the masses the next day of making a bad one.
Well I apologize to the people on here that really are virgins, never had sex before marriage, or always admitted to making a mistake at the time of making it, even when they didn't know it was one because of immaturity. All you Do-Gooders HOORAY FOR YOU!!!!! Now go kill yourself cuz living life can't make a perfect person evolve into anything greater.
Shinique, Damamas, and Shawna are just HOES thats why they saying all that.
So somebody could shoot up a Day Care and KILL 20 babies and you'd still use that excuse.SHAME SHAME.
Personal Life Ha! You know what happens when you break into that Industry so drop the "Oh my Personal Life" Act it got old 5 years ago.
My oh my, see that is a silly way of lookin @ things. If people were not in stars' business and so quick to judge w/ such rediculous demands I thnk her reality would have been better handled. "We" act as if "stars" are not regular people just like us. I feel bad for her, I mean to be placed in that situation to not be able to fully enjoy her new arrival, but to have to plot to keep America on her side. I have always loved Brandy, and I, unlike others would have been happy to know that she would be bringing a new life into this world outside what society sees as traditional! Get it girl. "Sittin' On Top of the World"!
Don't talk about Brandy or she'll KILL yo momma. She already did that last year don't make her do it again.
It's very stupid to not be a fan of someone's music because of what they do in their personal life. Brandy is still the best at actually taking the time to create and master her songs & I'll always be a fan of the music no matter what.
Thats why I never really was a fan of her b/c I knew it was something about her aka sneaky... I mean be yourself... Do you.. Glad she has finally realized that...
