Oprah Pulls The Plug, Changes Up With OWN

After spending countless years in syndication, mainly through ABC, Oprah Winfrey is reportedly dumping her hit show.
"..her show will go off of ABC in syndication and she will come to OWN," Discovery Communications' CEO David Zaslav told the New York Post.
Zaslav's comment addresses Oprah's new network called OWN (Oprah Winfrey network) which hits the 'small screen' next year.
With OWN hitting airwaves the media mogul and dominating talk show host will have no reason to stay with ABC after the show ends its current contract in 2011.
"We're talking now about what the presence will be and what kind of programming she would be involved in directly. But this is her chapter 2, and building the OWN brand online and on-air is... a core mission for her."
Oprah's departure will be a huge blow to CBS-TV and ABC, both networks have enjoyed a consistent ratings blockbuster since Oprah's debut in 1986.
The Oprah Winfrey Show is currently the longest-running daytime television show in U.S. history, with an archive of over 22 seasons and 3,000 episodes.
There has been no confirmation as to who Oprah is looking at for OWN, however, Nate Berkus, Dr. Mehmet Oz and Oprah's pal Gayle King are rumored to receive shows on the network.
Oprah will retain full editorial control of OWN and oversee all of its programming.
