Marvin Scandrick aka "Slim" is making a well charted transition from his former group 112 to a successful solo career.
Unexpected as it may be, Slim's new single "So Fly" is helping the star to carve his own niche and that's exactly what he wants.
"This song is so unorthodox from what people would think the first Slim
record would be," the singer-songwriter shared with Billboard recently. "But in trying to make
the transition from group to solo, you have to find your own niche and
style. So I found up-and-coming Orlando (Florida) producers Oddz N Endz
to help me come up with something fresh. I walked the fine line of
staying current -- and it's working."
"Loves Crazy," Slim's debut album features Faith Evans, Big Boi, Fabolous and Ryan Leslie with production from the Trackmasters, Midnight Black and Sean Garrett.
Even though he's taken a different route with the first single Slim wants you to know he has not forgotten about love.
"There are a lot of songs on this album where you don't have to do the
talking," Slim said. "If you just press and play a song for your
significant other, he or she will get the idea."
"Loves Crazy" is due in stores Nov. 18 via M3/Asylum
