Update: Kelis Gets 'Bossy' With The Police

After beating charges stemming from a Miami area nightclub incident this week, Kelis is reportedly filing a civil rights complaint against the Miami Beach Police for unlawful arrest and violation of her human rights.

The "Bossy" hitmaker was arrested last March and accused of disrupting an investigation, however, Judge Antonio Arzola threw out the charges on Friday, ruling that no valid evidence existed.

With her name clear, Kelis and attorney Ira Loewy are headed to court to file a lawsuit against the police department. According to an interview with E!news, Attorney Loewy says "you can't arrest someone for questioning police authority or protesting action," refrencing his clients alleged shouting match with the police over her Hip Hop husband Nas.

"We'll draft a civil rights complaint and hopefully get this filed within the next few weeks or couple of months. She was detained illegally, and her rights under the Fourth and First Amendment were violated. She was slandered by the police press releases that came out. It was totally given out to attack her reputation... and was totally false."

Kelis' last album "Kelis Was Here" was released in 2006 featuring the singles "Blindfold Me" and "Bossy."
