Patti Labelle will join UNCF honorees Aretha Franklin and Smokey Robinson this fall when she is honored with the organizations “Award of Excellence.”
Labelle, who reunited with Sarah Dash and Nona Hendrix at this years Essence Music Festival will become the United Negro College Fund’s latest honoree in September.
Presented by Target, UNCF’s annual "An Evening of Stars" will be taped live at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sept. 13. The two-hour tribute will then be telecast nationwide in January 2009.
Last year, R&B legend Smokey Robinson was honored during the annual “An Evening of Stars” which featured Ne Yo, Kenny Lattimore and Heather Hedley.
