R&B legend Lionel Richie took a swipe at his daughter and often media target Nicole Richie earlier this week at a taping for the TV Land Awards.
Richie, while accepting the “Icon” award said "Forget about surviving 40 years in the music business. Just surviving 27 years of Nicole Richie has been a struggle-and-a-half, I want to tell you. I stand here as a survivor, I want you to know, for all the parents out there."
In 2007, Nicole Richie spent 82 minutes in jail after being convicted of driving under the influence of drugs. She was arrested in December 2006 after witnesses reported seeing her Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle headed the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank, Calif.
Nicole, who made a name for herself on Fox's "The Simple Life" along with Paris Hilton, hasn't posed for any mug shots lately. Instead she has been spotted out and about with her 3-month-old daughter Harlow.
The sixth annual TV Land Awards are scheduled to air June 15 on the cable network.

Well, it seems to me if he and his ex had some CONTROL over Nicole when she was growing up, then she wouldn't probably wouldn't have gotten into so much sh**. Both the parents were selfish and unfit to raise a child under those conditions...mama had a nervous breakdown and papa having affairs and left home... They both needed to realize that Nicole's issues were caused because of their NEGLECT! she grew up with ZERO guidance for either of them. So don't blame Nicole, parents need to step up and take more responsibility for their children, instead of blaming the kid for everthing.
oh. that's something.
Lionel i respect you had to deal with a daughter who was a HO, and a drug addict thats gotta be hard on a man...women tend to mayrter themselves as victims of their actions and blame men instead of owning up to themselves(and their free will)...the only thing Nicole needs from you is love and a @$$ kicking and some JESUS
Well, im glad to hear that if we had more dads out there sticking by their children maybe the world would be a little bit better.
HAPPY FATHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
