As recently reported on Singersroom, Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood exchanged words over Lee’s criticism of Eastwood’s Iwo Jima films “Flags of Our Fathers” and “Letters From Iwo Jima,” which he claims ignored black characters. However, according to the Italic Institute of America “Lee should practice what he preaches.”
Earlier this month Eastwood responded to Lee’s claims stating the films were historically accurate and that Lee should "shut his face," to which Lee quipped that Eastwood "is not my father, and we're not on a plantation."
According to Bill Dal Cerro, president of the Italic Institute of America, Lee may have his own anti-Italian racist tendencies to worry about.
"Spike Lee is very talented, but I sometimes wish he'd practice what he preaches," Dal Cerro said. "His points about African-Americans are well taken, but, ironically, he does the same thing to Italians in his films."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Italic Institute of America has criticized Lee in the past for his portrayal of Italian-Americans in "Do the Right Thing" and "Jungle Fever" and has expressed worry about "Miracle at St. Anna," Lee's upcoming World War II drama set in Italy.

Majadi i can see your point but truth be told Caucasians over romanticise and switch out truths for the glory of their race...every film they do makes them seem like 50ft. giants never speaking the truth the made hell even when movies depicted about your culture by your name 3rd world or East Indian Caucasians depicts y'all as savages or obident ass kisser to their authority..Gen.George Custer a hero to Caucasians when in actuality he was a Evil warlord stealing and killing Native American land and children an when he faced a MAN (SITTING BULL)he died quickly in combat but the movies make it seem as if the Indigenous was savages and he died valiantly untruthful..it's time Caucasian movie makers be truthful ...magnifico bravo SPIKE for standing up
I have often discussed objectivity in any social commentary. With film it remains as I have said before, an impossibility. I feel Lee gets lost in the mix with white film producers. It is illogical to expect Clint Eastwood to correctly portray African men from America in any war epic. White film producers will produce from their worldview through their own lens. As all view the world through their own lens we should not be expected to do otherwise. There will be those who argue that White Film producers should be more sensitive, etc., ad nauseum. When African American film producers define their own realities then the record is truly set straight. Let the Italians make movies of their own thus ending their tussle with Mr. Lee. Mr. Lees entanglement with Mr. Eastwood is pointless. If you are dissatisfied with your own portrayal in films, Polish, African, or German then define yourselves.
