Ledisi, Chrisette Michele And More to Honor Patti Labelle in All Star Tribute

R&B diva Patti LaBelle will be honored in an all-star tribute on July 5th at this year’s Essence Music Festival.
The all-star tribute, announced by organizers this week will feature singers Chaka Khan, Angie Stone, Ledisi, Chrisette Michele, Ruby Amanfu and Irma Thomas – set to take place during the second day of this year’s Essence Music Festival being held July 4 - July 6th in New Orleans.
LaBelle's career, anchored by the hits "Lady Marmalade" and "On My Own," spans four decades and includes 10 solo albums and six albums with LaBelle, the group that first launched her to stardom. The tribute will include two of the original members of LaBelle, Sarah Dash and Nona Hendryx who are currently recording a new Labelle album slated for release later this year as previously reported by Singersrooom.
"It is an honor for us to have Ms. Patti Labelle, a living legend, grace our stage during the 2008 Essence Music Festival," said Michelle Ebanks, president of Essence Communications Inc. "This will be a very special performance in the history of the Essence Music Festival."
The LaBelle tribute show joins the previously announced Essence lineup, which includes Rihanna, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Chris Rock, Keyshia Cole, Chris Brown, Jill Scott, Morris Day, The Time, and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.

why wasn't ann nesby considered to participate in honoring patti labelle?! she would have been an excellent choice, she's worked with patti numerous times in the past and also penned a few tunes for labelle in the 90s!!!
