In an interview with Doug Banks' syndicated radio show, "The Ride With Doug & DeDe," R&B soulman Johnny Gill finally addressed rumors that he is gay and was the driving force behind Eddie Murphy’s breakup with Tracey Edmonds.
Gill denied both rumors and faulted the media for failing to check the facts. He seemed genuinely hurt that he's constantly being referred to by the public as being more than just Eddie Murphy's running pal.
Gill also discusses how painful it is for him to have to hear and deal with the constant rumors. Gill, 41, said he was willing to put money on the line or to take a lie detector test to prove his point.
"There's not one person on this planet that could ever say they've seen Johnny Gill step outside of the rim or conducted himself as a man." "I keep a stable," he said, explaining that he is not married and has women of all races.
Commenting on reports that Murphy's mother Lillian had bickered constantly with Edmonds' mother throughout the weekend, Gill said Mrs. Murphy was just expressing her belief that the actor was rushing into marriage so soon after the debacle with Melonie “Scary Spice” Brown and amid ongoing issues with his first wife, Nicole.
"Eddie has a great level of respect for his mother and his family, just like anybody," Gill told Banks. "And when Mommy finally decided to speak on it, she spoke on it after the ceremony – simply that she felt everything was moving too fast and it didn't feel right. She's not an actress and she was being honest with him."
Gill also shed some light on what initially set off Lillian's tirade.
"One of Tracey's guests said some things that were inappropriate that triggered everything with the mom, and that's how it all started," he said.
Gill also attempted to explain what Murphy was thinking when he famously picked up a transvestite prostitute in West Hollywood. He said: "Somebody walks up that you assume is a fine girl that spots you and approaches you, you're thinkin' 'Hey shoot, it's my lucky night.' He had no other choice but to bite the bullet and say 'Hey, I was just helping her out and giving her a ride.'"

My son Edward is gay, we 've known this all of his life.... As a boy, Eddie liked to dress up into my bra, panties and assorted wigs. Edward derived so much pleasure prancing around the house dressed like this...Sometimes he would get erect during this....P.S....Eddie always had faghags to hide the fact that he likes men.

i know Johnny Gil, his aunt married my brother and he is not gay. People are always trying to get something started. i guess it makes good interview conversations. Saying negative things about famous people sells, and that is really wrong, but that is the world that we live in.

I knew johnny as a kid..he didnt seem gay to me then..he doesnt..but i do know that he and eddie been kicking it for a while..homies...i am assuming..a few years ago i heard similar stories about jg and ed..and sugar ray...and someone else..i dont know if its true or not...but i seriously doubt it....keep ur head up and ur your stable in tack,john..holla..

I hope Johnny or Eddie isn't gay because that's a lonely lifestyle. They try to pretend like their happy but the reality is under God's order 2 Men or 2 Women will never make a whole. He made Man and Women to reproduce and flourish the earth - this is his dream. Homosexuality is a demonic spirit and Satan knows that it breaks down generations - if everyone was gay no one would be reproducing. Now this doesn't mean you don't love your gay friends, talk to them or open your arms to them because Jesus broke bread with everyone but it does mean if you don't die to this spirit and change your lifestyle you will never inherit the Kingdom of God - we are are grown - we make choices and God wants us all to come with him but unfortunately some will love those fleshly desires more than the presence of God and accept their place in Hell.

Well I'm so tired of the who is gay and who is not. People shouldn't be so judgemental. It isn't uncommon for two men to have a close friendship without it being anything sexual. It sounds like Johnny Gill is a close family friend so why wouldn't he know exactly what went down. Keep ya mind out of the gutter, everything doesn't evolve around sex.
