Sorry Sucker: SR's Top 5 Ways to Breakup in Hollywood

Forget the dreaded phone
call, or sit-down convo to announce you’re ready to move on. In the celebrity
world of romance, breaking up can be more of a public service announcement.
Here’s how some of our favorite celebrities preferred to announce their splits:
Through a news outlet
There was speculation for a
while about whether rapper Common and tennis star Serena Williams were still a
couple or not. Common made it very clear that they were no longer together when
he told Chicago’s
Fox News, “I am single. I am a single man, definitely.”
Through a public statement
When Lance Gross and Eva
Marcille got engaged, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Until a rep for
the couple released this statement: "Lance Gross and Eva Marcille have
mutually decided to end their relationship. The split is completely amicable.”
Lance later addressed the skeptics by confirming their breakup via Twitter.
Through a new tattoo
NBA player Kenyon Martin
showed up at Carmelo Anthony’s wedding over the weekend with a new tattoo,
which covers up the previous tattoo of his girlfriend‘s (or presumably
ex-girlfriend’s) lips. Looks like Trina and Kenyon may no longer be an item.
Nas also covered up a tattoo of Kelis’ head with a lion after she filed for
divorce.
Through a song
When Usher decided to file
for divorce from Tameka, he aired his dirty laundry with “Filing Papers,” the
first single off Raymond v. Raymond. As Usher crooned “I done turned
into the man that I never thought I’d be, I’m ready to sign them papers,” it
makes you wonder how Tameka messed things up that bad.
Through a new girlfriend
(or boyfriend)
Although Swizz Beatz denied
that Alicia Keys was “linked…to the decision that Mashonda and I have made to
separate,” it’s hard to believe that the newly engaged and pregnant singer
didn’t have a tad bit of an influence on the divorce of the music producer and
his ex-wife.
