Who’s next to take R&B and pop music worlds by storm? You’re about to find out. On Justin Garner’s debut recording, this multi-talented artist delivers refined vocals, a fresh and soulful sound, infused with rhythm and blues and popular music. The urban, female anthem, and 808 driven “Cocky” takes Justin to the clubs, sending the message to women that it’s okay to be confident, bossy and independent - easily becoming this season’s ultimate club banger. For fans of his contemporary R&B work with previous releases such as “VooDoo” and “Catch My Breath”, we see a brand new side of Justin Garner. “I’ve been waiting to do something a bit different with my music. I wanted to say some things, I wouldn’t have said two or three years ago,” Justin says with an earnest countenance. “I think after going through life experiences, in love and relationships, you have to go through something to be able to fully emote that feeling, so that’s where I’m at right now. I take my work seriously. I’m a serious performer, and songwriter. And I’m young and enjoying life. My music is about that side of me.” Justin’s project “Role Model” shines with creativity and marketability. Garner does more than merely get his swagger on. He forges a fresh and innovative new sound that is destined to be emulated for years to come. “I didn’t want to follow a trend anymore with my new songs,” He says. “I wanted to create a new thing. I wanted to bring something new and exciting to the industry.” To do this, Justin joined forces with producers Tic Toc, and southern producer and rapper KLC, to create a sound that fuses urban pop with soul and rock overtones. Thus setting the tone and creating a sound for his music. “Role Model” begins its life with the smash first single “Cocky,” the Rodnae (Beats How U Want Em’) produced club banger that booms with synth-string harmonies and bass guitar licks. “It’s saying that it’s okay if a woman can make it own her own and buy nice things for herself. She can be cocky, but she’s not the only one who can be cocky, “Justin laughs. In addition to other songs, he found electricity in collaborations with Minister of Music on the catchy and infectious “On My Radar”, and G-Sharp on the piano driven classic “Open Heart.” “I’ve learned so much on this journey. I’ve learned to do different things with my voice, and learning so much about myself in the process. I’ve also learned that the music industry is not as glamorous at times as it is portrayed and it takes a lot of hard work and patience.” And throughout his life, Justin has always worked hard, and constantly overcame barriers-conquering new challenges and moving mountains. A native of Plaquemine, Louisiana, Garner began singing in his church’s choir. He got his first major opportunity opening for recording artist Shirley Caesar, leading to being a contestant on A.G.’s Gospel Star search and charting on gospel radio stations with an inspirational single. Eventually joining an R&B boy band called Soul Star, he later decided to branch out and pursue a serious career in music. After a multitude of performances and showcases, Justin signed a recording deal with Street Customs Music. He was to immediately begin recording his album. “I was so excited to finally get the opportunity to be heard. Being a singer-songwriter, I want my music to appeal to the masses. I knew I needed help to accomplish that. Music is a constant journey. An artist’s life is a constant evolution, “says Justin. But Justin Garner’s journey lies in “Role Model”, an album destined to establish him as an R&B-Pop music force to be reckoned with. With the high potential and support, Justin is just ecstatic about having the chance to keep singing. “I give thanks everyday for the opportunities I have, “says Garner. “I’m praying, and working diligently to having a great career in music.”
