During our interview with K. Michelle earlier this year, she simply called Idris Elba “cool,” saying, “we’re friends and I just don’t really care to look at him like that.” But according to her interview with The Wendy Williams Show which aired today (Dec. 11), things were more than “cool.”
If you recall, rumors flared the two were doing more than just business earlier this year when Elba directed the VH1 musical for her album Rebellious Soul. Soon after, it was revealed that Elba was expecting a child with girlfriend Naiyana Garth, leaving people to ask, "wait, I didn't even know he was seeing someone, and…wasn't he was with K. Michelle!?”
As it turns out, Michelle was in the dark, too; sounds like she didn’t know she was the other woman. “It was like an 8 month situation. …We just clicked…There was a situation. He has a child and I’m not going to get in the way of that…you’re not going to get me. You’re not going to call me the home wrecker or call me any of that. So me, I desire a lot of attention and time, and when there’s a newborn you have to give your time and attention to that child.”
She continued, “When I met him, I did find out that he had a woman pregnant. But I did not know the extent of that situation. I kind of looked up and I kind of was like the sidechick. I looked in the mirror and I was like, ‘Girl, you done paid all this money for this work [laughs]. You can’t be the sidechick!’ But through it all he has remained a gentleman.”
