On Monday (August 18), R&B siren K. Michelle held a private screening for her hotly-anticipated new musical, "K. Michelle: Rebellious Soul – The Musical," which is set to premiere on Tuesday, August 19 at 10PM on VH1. The intimate screening, held at The Bryant Park Hotel (theater) in New York City, included media, handpicked fans, and a few celebrities (Basketball Wives’ Jennifer Williams and Love & Hip Hop’s Emily B.).
During the showing, K. Michelle briefly spoke to the audience about the musical and how it relates to her own experiences. She confirmed that she used to strip to pay for studio time, but she also attended college at Florida A&M. K was adamant that her experiences made her who she is today, and insisted, “It’s nothing that I’m ashamed of because it’s part of me.”
Overall, the screening clip we watch of "K. Michelle: Rebellious Soul – The Musical” was a 2.0 version of the singer-songwriter. The musical takes a real and precise look into K’s debut album, and the experiences that helped its creation. From chasing men in the strip club to personal jaw-dropping family matters, you get to see K. Michelle do what she does best while adding some humor.
"K. Michelle: Rebellious Soul – The Musical" is directed by Golden Globe Award-winning actor Idris Elba.
