Jill Scott on Pace to Land First Career Chart TopperThursday, June 23, 2011
According to Hits Daily Double, the set is estimated to sell between 125-135k in its first week, which would knock off all other contenders to land her the career milestone. Her prior highest peak was a No. 3 spot with her 2004 sophomore release ‘Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2.’
“'The Light of the Sun' is about being revealing and refreshing – it's warm. It's rejuvenating. That's the kind of music I wanted to create this time around,” Scott recently told Singersroom. “I'm not hiding in any dark places or in any shadows…I got naked in front of the microphone. That means that the 'Light of the Sun' is all over – I can't hide myself.”
The set is Scott’s first release with her new label and Warner Bros.
