Beyonce has undoubtedly been holding her own since splitting from Destiny’s Child with the debut album “Dangerously In Love (2003)” but is she near Mariah and Whitney Houston territory as this decade’s top female artist ? According to Billboard, Beyonce is widening her lead on the charts with the most top 10 singles recorded by a female artist on the Hot 100 since 2000. Even with similarly successful entertainers including Rihanna, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Lady Gaga picking up Hot 100 no.1 singles, a close look at Billboard’s Hot 100 archives reveals that Beyonce has indeed scored twelve top ten singles. The latest of those singles is “Halo,” a song put together with the help of Ryan Tedder (“Bleeding Love,” Leona Lewis). With that said, how far does Beyonce have to go before matching World Music Female Artist of the Millennium Award-winning Mariah Carey ? According to Billboard, Carey has a total of eighteen no.1 singles on the Hot 100 and over 5 additional Hot 100 top 10 singles so, Beyonce is well on her way. In related news, a radio station in Vienna has admitted to duping a local museum and several tourist attractions with a ‘fake beyonce’ but only after the museum called Beyonce out for sending the ‘body double’ to their high brow establishment.
